Here are some long lost pictures of the original SoCal Special. I am still using the fin/nozzle assembly after about 3 re-bottle jobs. I do not use the noodle nose cone ! I use a blown bottle bottom that I cut off and tape on at the top with the top piece of red PVC tape. I just untape it and push the nose cone back into shape after crash down and re-use the tape to put it back on. As I fly over hardpack and rock and asphalt, it provides a good abrasion shield for the pressure bottles. Also, the weight is higher now and it goes higher because of the extra momentum. Also, I now glue my bottles end to end and fill the rocket while it is on the launch pad, much more convient! I keep promising to get updated pictures, and I will, I just can't promise when.
